Spot a dark street in your neighborhood? Now you can report it with just a click.
The Town of Canandaigua has added a new feature to its website that allows residents to quickly report street light outages. The tool, found on the Highway Department page, sends an automatic email to town staff with the location and details of the problem.
“Our residents are the best eyes and ears when it comes to identifying issues in our community,” said Town Supervisor Jared Simpson. “This new feature makes it quick and simple for anyone to report a street light outage so we can take action and ensure our community remains bright and safe.”
Highway Superintendent Jim Fletcher said the new option helps the town receive reports faster and forward them for repair.
Street lights in Canandaigua are maintained by both the town and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E). By routing all reports through the Highway Department, officials hope to make tracking and follow-up more efficient.
