Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September after a dominant start to the 2025 season. Through four games, Cook has totaled 490 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns, helping the Bills to an undefeated 4-0 record.
Cook ranks second in the league with 401 rushing yards on 75 carries and has also contributed 89 receiving yards on 12 catches. Buffalo leads the NFL in total rushing yards, thanks in large part to Cook.
He became just the sixth player in the Super Bowl era to post at least 100 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown in each of the first four games of a season. He’s also the first Bills player to accomplish that feat since O.J. Simpson in 1975.
Now in his fourth year, Cook is seeing increased usage with a 61% snap share and continues to break records. In Week 4, he set a new franchise mark with his eighth straight game scoring a rushing touchdown. Earlier, in Week 2, he notched his fifth career touchdown run of 40+ yards, the most in the NFL since 2022.
Cook joins Thurman Thomas as the only Bills’ RBs to be named AFC Player of the Month.
