Deputies arrested a Waterloo man after finding him asleep behind the wheel with suspected fentanyl in his car, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
Steven J. Galea, 30, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance—both misdemeanors.
The arrest happened around 1:14 a.m. on Sept. 17 after deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at a local business in the Village of Waterloo. Field sobriety tests were given at the scene, and a search of Galea’s vehicle turned up a quantity of suspected fentanyl.
Galea is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court on Oct. 1 at 5 p.m.
