Pittsford Fine Art will host a special First Friday reception next week featuring the work of local artist and former educator Rosemary Pergolizzi.
The exhibit, titled “Earth, Sea and Sky,” opens Friday, October 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, located at 4 North Main Street in the village of Pittsford. The show highlights Pergolizzi’s vibrant oil and pastel paintings inspired by the movement of water, clouds, and the coastal landscapes she loves.
Pergolizzi draws inspiration from nearby shorelines in the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario, as well as the Mediterranean coasts. “Oil painting provides me with endless opportunities to present a specific memory or mood,” she said. “Pastels allow for painterly self-expression and experimentation.”
A lifelong resident of East Irondequoit, Pergolizzi spent over 26 years teaching art before becoming a full-time artist. She is a member of several art organizations, including the Rochester Art Club and the Pastel Society of Western New York.
Visitors can explore her work and meet the artist during the opening reception. Her pieces, along with other original art, prints, and notecards, will be available for purchase.
