Hobart and William Smith Colleges just earned a major national nod from New York Times bestselling author Jeffrey Selingo.
In his new book Dream School: Finding the College That’s Right for You, Selingo names HWS one of only 75 colleges in the country that deliver standout outcomes, accessible admissions, and a strong student experience.
Selingo highlights HWS alumni who’ve landed jobs at top firms like Fidelity Investments and Morgan Stanley, and he cites the Colleges’ 80% medical school acceptance rate — nearly double the national average. He also points to HWS’ No. 4 national ranking from the Wall Street Journal for student experience.
“Dream Schools are where students thrive,” Selingo writes, praising HWS for its personalized education, global engagement, and return on investment.
The book draws on data from the HEA Group, Bain & Company, the National Survey of Student Engagement, and the Burning Glass Institute. Selingo also surveyed 3,500 parents during his research.
