Ben Rice was the hero, launching a go-ahead grand slam in the 10th, his fourth hit of the day, to break a 1-1. New York added two more runs in the inning, with Jazz Chisholm Jr. homering and Anthony Volpe driving in another.

Strong bullpen work kept the Yankees in the game after stranding several runners in the middle innings. Luke Weaver escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh, Devin Williams struck out the side in the eighth, and David Bednar stranded the winning run at second in the ninth. Camilo Doval sealed the win by leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th.

Rookie starter Cam Schlittler strengthened his case to be the Yankees third starter in the postseason, allowing just one run over 5.1 innings. That lone blemish came on a solo homer by Samuel Basallo in the fifth.

The Yankees tied it in the sixth when Rice delivered a clutch RBI single following a walk and a hit-by-pitch.

The victory capped a 7-3 road trip for New York (88-68) and kept them in both the division and wild-card races heading into the final week of the season.
