A traffic stop in the Village of Bath led to a felony weapons arrest last week after officers spotted a firearm in plain view inside the vehicle.
According to the Bath Police Department, the stop occurred around 8:39 p.m. on September 19 on Kingsley Street, after an officer observed the vehicle commit multiple traffic violations.
During the stop, officers saw a gun inside the vehicle. Noel R. Campbell, a 42-year-old Bath resident and passenger in the car, was identified as the owner of the firearm. Police say Campbell is a convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a weapon.
He was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D felony.
Campbell was processed and taken to Steuben County Jail for arraignment. He was later released.
The Bath Police Department thanked the New York State Police for their assistance in the investigation.
