Seneca County is gearing up to honor its local farms, dairies, and vineyards at the upcoming Celebrate Seneca County Ag Night, set for Tuesday, October 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fall Street Brewing Co. in Seneca Falls.
The event is free, open to the public, and designed to showcase the people and products that power the county’s agricultural economy.
A night of food, drink, and local pride
Hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County, Ag Night will feature samples of locally sourced foods, prepared using Farm to School and SNAP-Ed recipes — with recipe cards available so attendees can recreate them at home. Local vendors and producers, including members of the Cayuga Wine Trail, will also be on hand sharing their goods.
Craft beverages and wood-fired pizza from Fall Street Brewing Co. will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
“This is a fabulous opportunity to taste some of the best and freshest ingredients that Seneca County and the Finger Lakes has to offer,” said Ave Bauder, Executive Director of Seneca County CCE.
Agriculture fuels the local economy
According to the 2022 USDA Ag Census, Seneca County is home to 422 farms covering over 103,000 acres, with a total market value topping $560 million. Agriculture contributes more than $110 million each year to the local economy.
Representatives from regional agriculture teams and county organizations will be on site to answer questions and share information about their work.
