A gas line strike in the Village of Elbridge forced road closures and building evacuations Thursday afternoon, according to WSYR.
The line was hit near Route 5 and the Village Office, prompting officials to close the office out of caution. No immediate danger was reported, but Route 5 remained shut down for several hours. As of 8:15 p.m., the road reopened, though NYSEG crews were expected to stay on scene overnight.
Residents may still smell gas, but officials say there’s no threat.
