The Seneca County Correctional Facility has officially earned reaccreditation from the New York State Sheriff’s Association, marking a continued commitment to high standards in safety, accountability, and professionalism.
Sheriff Timothy J. Thompson, Jr. announced the achievement Thursday, calling it a major recognition of the hard work and dedication of the facility’s corrections staff.
The process for reaccreditation includes a full review of operations — including staff training, inmate care, security procedures, and compliance with statewide correctional standards.
Only a select number of facilities across New York consistently meet the criteria required for this recognition.
“This reaccreditation highlights the dedication and professionalism of our corrections staff,” said Sheriff Thompson. “Their unwavering commitment ensures the safety of our community and the fair, ethical treatment of those in our care.”
The Sheriff’s Office says maintaining accreditation is part of its broader mission to uphold transparency and excellence in law enforcement. It also reinforces the agency’s focus on ethical conduct and public trust.
