A police chase ended in tragedy when a man drove a U-Haul into the Erie Canal, killing his passenger, according to WHAM.
Deputies say 43-year-old Ryan Armstrong led officers on a high-speed pursuit after allegedly stealing from a Brockport Walgreens. The chase ended in Murray, where Armstrong drove into the canal and swam away. His passenger drowned.
Armstrong, a repeat offender, is now charged with second-degree manslaughter and is being held without bail. Investigators are still examining evidence from the truck.
