Syracuse football kicks off its home opener today at noon, when it hosts UConn at the JMA Wireless in Week 2 of the season, with the game broadcast on ACC Network.
The Orange (0-1) are looking to rebound after dropping their opener to Tennessee, while the Huskies (1-0) arrive with momentum following a 59-13 rout of Central Connecticut State.
This will mark the 14th matchup between the two programs, with Syracuse holding a slight 7-6 lead in the series. In the last meeting, November 23, 2024, the Orange secured a 31-24 victory.
Quarterback Steve Angeli passed for a career-high 274 yards and a touchdown in his debut, while running back Yasin Willis rushed for 91 yards and three scores. On defense, safety Duce Chestnut recorded 10 tackles to lead a group adjusting to larger roles.
The Orange haven’t lost consecutive games under head coach Fran Brown, who looks to keep that streak intact as his team returns to the Dome for the first time since last year’s comeback win over Miami.
