A Genoa man was arrested after allegedly choking a woman during a domestic dispute — an incident that deputies say was recorded on video and occurred in front of a young child.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua J. Todd, 29, on August 15 and charged him with criminal obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened late on August 14. Investigators say Todd grabbed the female victim by the throat during an argument. A 3-year-old child was reportedly present at the time.
Deputies were alerted in the early hours of August 15 and attempted to locate Todd. After an initial search was unsuccessful, they secured an arrest warrant.
With help from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Todd was later taken into custody and transported to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing.
Todd was arraigned in CAP Court that evening, and bail was set at $2,500. He is scheduled to appear in Genoa Town Court on September 16 at 7 p.m.
