Excellus BCBS names Dr. Martin Stallone as EVP, Chief Healthcare Services Officer

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has appointed Dr. Martin Stallone, a veteran hospital executive with deep roots in upstate New York, as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Healthcare Services Officer.

Stallone, who currently serves as CEO of Centralus Health, will begin his new role on December 1.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Stallone to our team,” said Jim Reed, CEO and president of Excellus BCBS and its parent company, The Lifetime Healthcare Companies. “His clinical leadership and regional expertise will help us drive innovation and build stronger partnerships with providers throughout the region.”

Centralus Health, which formed through a partnership between Cayuga Health and Arnot Health, includes five hospitals across the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, and Central New York. Stallone brings 17 years of leadership experience from Cayuga Health to the new position.

At Excellus, Stallone will oversee healthcare services including pharmacy, provider networks, quality initiatives, and member care management. His focus will be on expanding access to high-quality, affordable care while aligning providers and insurers to improve outcomes across upstate communities.

A resident of Ithaca, Stallone holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, and the U.S. Naval War College. He serves as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and the New York State Air Surgeon for the Air National Guard. He and his wife, Ami, have six sons.
