Middlesex will honor the Seneca people with its 36th annual Seneca Heritage Day on Saturday, August 30, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The free event runs 2–4 p.m. at the historic Overackers Corners Schoolhouse and includes cultural performances, guest speaker Peter Jemison, and a ceremonial signal fire on Bare Hill. The fire tradition ends with red flares lighting up Canandaigua Lake.
Organizers say it’s a tribute to Seneca heritage, thanksgiving, and peace — a tradition the town has celebrated since 1989.
