A Bath man already in custody at the Steuben County Jail is facing new charges after allegedly assaulting another inmate—who uses a wheelchair.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Kenneth R. Mikko Jr. was arrested on August 14 after deputies responded to a reported assault inside the jail.
Investigators say Mikko repeatedly struck the victim during a fight, causing injuries that required medical treatment from jail staff. The victim remains incarcerated and is confined to a wheelchair.
Mikko is charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony. He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and returned to jail custody.
