Geneva man arrested multiple times in Yates County

A Geneva man is facing a growing list of charges after deputies arrested him Wednesday night for breaking into vehicles in Dundee — just days after he was picked up twice in one weekend in nearby Penn Yan.

Edward F. Galvin III, 39, was caught on August 13 after deputies and State Police responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Quick Shoppe on Water Street in Dundee. He was found near the Dundee School Bus Garage and took off running. Deputies caught him after a short foot chase.

Investigators say Galvin had stolen property and was driving an uninsured, unregistered, and uninspected vehicle without a license. He was charged with petit larceny, obstruction of governmental administration, criminal possession of stolen property, and several vehicle violations. He was held on bail following centralized arraignment.

It wasn’t Galvin’s first run-in with the law this month.

On August 8, Penn Yan police say he gave a false name and threw a bicycle at an officer after being spotted with an open container during a fight near the village boat launch. He was charged with obstruction, false personation, criminal mischief, and open container violations — and released on an appearance ticket.

Two days later, he was arrested again, this time after a vehicle break-in and theft at a local business. Officers caught him following a brief chase and recovered stolen items. Charges from that incident include petit larceny, criminal tampering, and possession of stolen property.

Galvin is expected to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
