Watkins Glen Elks donate $6K to boost local health programs

A $6,000 donation from the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge is helping expand care for cancer patients and rehab services in Schuyler County.

Officials with Schuyler Hospital and the Cayuga Health system announced the gift Tuesday, thanking the Elks Lodge #1546 for its continued support. The donation includes $4,000 for a new treadmill in the hospital’s rehabilitation unit and $2,000 for Gorges Givers, which supports local women battling cancer.

“These donations will have a meaningful impact on both our rehabilitation services and the lives of local women facing cancer,” said Kimberly Sprague, Director of the Schuyler Health Foundation.

The funding comes through a grant from the national Elks Grand Lodge. In total, the Elks have donated $25,000 to Schuyler Hospital and $3,500 to Gorges Givers over the years.

“Our mission is to uplift the Watkins Glen and Greater Schuyler County communities,” said Tom Phillips, Elks Lodge Treasurer and Schuyler Health Foundation board member.
