Two men are facing major drug charges after police found more than 10 ounces of cocaine in a parked SUV in downtown Ithaca.
According to New York State Police, the arrests happened on August 12 around 10:30 p.m. as part of a Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) detail. Troopers and Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies were alerted by Ithaca Police to a suspicious vehicle parked at West Green Street and South Geneva Street—suspected of being involved in a narcotics sale.
Cocaine found during K9 search
Officers approached the black Dodge Durango and identified the occupants as Khalid J. Husband, 29, of Brooklyn, and Mark R. Waters, 29, of Elmira.
A K9 search of the vehicle turned up approximately 10.5 ounces of cocaine. Both men were arrested and face the following felony charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (Class A-I felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Class B felony)
They were processed at SP Ithaca and arraigned in Ithaca City Court.
The investigation is ongoing. State Police thanked the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Ithaca Police Department for their assistance.
