City budget talk invites residents behind the scenes in Geneva

Geneva residents will get a rare peek into the city’s budgeting process during a special event at the public library this Sunday.

City Comptroller Adam Blowers and City Manager Amie Hendrix will host a public session on August 18 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Geneva Public Library, 244 Main Street.

Breaking down the city’s finances

The event promises to explain how Geneva builds its budget — from where the money comes from to how it gets spent. Organizers call it “Budgeting 101: City Edition,” designed to make the process easier to understand for anyone who’s curious.

Blowers and Hendrix will walk attendees through what it takes to keep the city running, and they’re encouraging residents to bring their questions and ideas.

A chance to be heard

The session isn’t just informational — it’s also a chance for the public to help shape the city’s future priorities.

“We’ll chat about current challenges, future opportunities, and what matters most to you when it comes to spending our city’s resources,” the invitation says.

Everyone is welcome to attend. No prior knowledge or experience is required.
