Cayuga Co. man faces felony charge after domestic incident

Deputies arrested a man in Victory last week after they say he violated an active order of protection during a domestic incident.

John R. Burns, 28, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt—a felony—after Cayuga County deputies responded to a home around 9:45 a.m. on August 7.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, the victim had a protective order in place against Burns at the time of the incident. Deputies say he violated that order during the confrontation.

Burns was arraigned in CAP court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail without bail.
