Binghamton man gets life sentence for fatal shooting

A Binghamton man will serve a life sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman earlier this year, according to WBNG.

Terrell Heyward admitted to the January 11 killing on Exchange Street, where police found the victim dead at the scene. He was sentenced Wednesday in Broome County Court to a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of life in prison.

District Attorney Paul Battisti called the act “heinous” and said the sentence ensures Heyward will remain behind bars. Officials hope the outcome offers some peace to the victim’s family.
