New York State Police have taken over an investigation into the death of a 9-year-old child in Watervliet, following an emergency response on Friday.
Troopers were called on August 2 to assist the Watervliet Police Department at a residence on 2nd Avenue. The child was later pronounced dead at Samaritan Hospital, according to a State Police press release.
The case has since been formally transferred to State Police, who are continuing the investigation with support from Watervliet authorities. Officials stated that there is no perceived threat to the public.
The cause of death remains under investigation.
