Demonstrators briefly shut down traffic in downtown Ithaca Friday evening, calling for an end to U.S. support for Israel amid the ongoing war in Gaza, according to The Ithaca Voice.
About 60 protesters rallied on the Commons before marching down Seneca Street, banging pots and chanting against Representative Josh Riley and Cornell University. Riley drew criticism for voting with Republicans and accepting donations from pro-Israel groups. Protesters also denounced Cornell’s reported talks with the Trump administration to reverse federal funding cuts.
The event remained peaceful, with no arrests reported. Streets reopened by 7:20 p.m. as protesters dispersed.
