Micron project to supercharge Syracuse-area growth, says KeyBank CEO

KeyBank’s top executive predicts the Syracuse region will soon be among the fastest-growing in the U.S. thanks to Micron’s planned chip plant, according to syracuse.com.

Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman said the $100 billion semiconductor facility in Clay will bring not only 9,000 Micron jobs but over 40,000 additional roles from related industries. The population could grow by 50,000, reversing decades of stagnation.

Gorman expects a major spike in housing demand—especially for apartments—and believes the area’s space and affordability make it ripe for long-term investment and rapid development.
