St. Francis-St. Clare Parish will hold an informational session on August 13 for parents and volunteers interested in a new faith formation program for young children.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the parish Ministry Center, located at 35 Center Street in Waterloo, and will introduce the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, designed for children ages 3 to 6.
“The children will participate in a peaceful, church-like classroom in the learning space called the Atrium,” said Faith Formation Coordinator Pam Kane. “They will learn by doing and listening, plus will have a quiet space where they can talk with God.”
Kane is calling on volunteers to help prepare the space and materials. The parish is looking for individuals with skills in sewing, woodworking, painting, calligraphy, and item sourcing.
“This program can supply the raw materials, but volunteers are needed,” Kane said, adding that the program may expand next year to include 6- to 9-year-olds.
The parish will continue offering traditional family-based religious education but hopes families will connect with this hands-on, spiritually rich approach.
