Ventosa Vineyards takes top medals at NY Wine Classic

A Geneva winery took home top honors at one of New York’s most prestigious wine competitions, reinforcing its reputation for excellence in Finger Lakes winemaking.

Ventosa Vineyards won multiple medals at the 2025 New York Wine Classic, including two golds for its 2020 Cabernet Franc and 2020 Merlot, the winery announced Tuesday.

The Cabernet Franc earned 92 points and is described as “well-balanced” with a smoky character and spicy notes of toasted fennel and black pepper. The Merlot, awarded 91 points, features “ripened cherry, plum, fig, and oak tannins,” and is already available to the public.

Silver medals went to the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2023 Semi-Dry Riesling, while bronze medals were awarded to the 2020 Sangiovese, 2021 Silver Chardonnay, and 2023 Unoaked Pinot Noir.

“We are proud to announce that our wines have been recognized for excellence, winning top honors at this year’s NY Wine Classic,” said Floor Manager Jamie Dellefave. “These awards are a testament to the dedication, craftsmanship, and passion that go into every bottle we produce.”

Ventosa Vineyards invites the public to visit its tasting room in Geneva and sample its estate-grown, bottled, and produced wines, paired with scenic lake views and Finger Lakes hospitality.
