Health officials are urgently trying to locate a dog that bit a person Monday afternoon at Troy Park on Ithaca’s South Hill, according to Tompkins County Environmental Health.
The tan or caramel-colored dog, resembling a Cavapoo and weighing around 20–30 pounds, was reportedly off leash and with a white man in his 60s. He also had a black poodle with him and claimed both dogs belonged to his daughter and were vaccinated, but left no contact details.
If the dog isn’t found, the bite victim may need to undergo post-exposure rabies treatment. Authorities stress the importance of gathering owner information after any bite and advise against interacting with unfamiliar pets.
