A fast-moving fire destroyed two vehicles parked outside a home in Middlesex on Monday, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office said the incident began around 4:21 p.m. when a Middlesex Assistant Fire Chief discovered a pickup truck on fire at 6115 Sky View Drive. As additional crews headed to the scene, the flames spread to a nearby SUV.
Both vehicles were engulfed before fire crews from Middlesex and Rushville managed to extinguish the blaze. The trucks were declared a total loss.
According to the sheriff’s office, the property owner was identified as Eddie R. Guzzo, 23, who lives at the address where the fire occurred. There are no charges at this time.
The Yates County Fire Investigation Team took over the scene and reported the fire appears to have been accidental.
