Historic Seneca Falls building reopens as veteran housing

A long-vacant building in Seneca Falls is now home to 53 brand-new apartments, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

The $24 million Huntington Apartments project transformed the historic 1870s Huntington Building into affordable housing, including 27 units with support services for veterans. Originally set for demolition by a gas station developer, the site was instead preserved and renovated by Rochester’s Home Leasing after public outcry.

Gov. Kathy Hochul celebrated the opening as part of her statewide housing plan. The project received support from multiple state agencies and tax credit programs and reflects ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown Seneca Falls while addressing the housing shortage.
