An inspiring chapter of Canoga’s past will come to life during a special program hosted by the Fayette Historical Society on Friday, July 18.
Historian Dale Freier Jr. will present “Canoga 1922: Big Things in a Little Place” at 7 p.m. inside the historic Canoga church building, now home to the Finger Lakes Christadelphians at 3589 State Route 89. The event will explore how, against the odds, the former Canoga Presbyterian Church was named one of the 40 most successful country churches in America in 1922.
Freier’s talk will delve into the surprising and uplifting events of the early 1900s that brought renewal to a struggling rural community. The evening will conclude with refreshments and conversation in the church’s dining area.
The program is free and open to the public, made possible by support from the Nelson B. Delavan Foundation.
