The Trevor’s Gift Backpack Program announced Monday that a donation from Seneca Meadows will fully restore its milk supply for the upcoming school year.
The program had been struggling to provide shelf-stable milk in its weekly food bags for Waterloo children after Foodlink ended its pre-packed bag service. With limited funds, Trevor’s Gift began sourcing and packing food independently—but soon realized it could no longer afford to include milk.
“Seneca Meadows once again stepped up to help the kids in our community by replenishing the milk fund this year,” said Doris Wolf, founder of Trevor’s Gift.
Each week, over 120 bags were delivered to students in the Waterloo School District. Each package includes fruits, vegetables, cereal, juice, proteins—and now, thanks to the donation, milk.
One in five children in Waterloo is considered nutritionally insecure, making Trevor’s Gift a lifeline for many families in the area.
