A 29-year-old Angelica resident has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly extorting over $250,000 from a Schenectady County victim in an online scheme, according to the Hornell Evening Tribune. Cobin allegedly met the victim online in April 2024. After initial requests for money were declined, she reportedly threatened to reveal their private communications. Authorities say the victim paid more than $250,000 between April 2024 and April 2025.

Cobin was arrested at her home, arraigned in Schenectady City Court, and released on her own recognizance. A future court date has not been set.
