Trout and fellow board member Bob Lotz are accused of breaking into the department to damage property Trout had been ordered to remove. Both allegedly enlisted Trout’s girlfriend to drive them but declined plea deals offered by the special prosecutor. Trout intends to plead not guilty.

Despite the charges, Trout is seeking re-election this November.
