Finger Lakes Fit celebrated its recent expansion in Penn Yan with a ribbon cutting and the launch of its first annual 5K run and walk, drawing local residents for a day focused on community wellness.
Held on Saturday, June 7, the event was organized in partnership with the Yates County Chamber of Commerce and highlighted the gym’s growing presence in the Finger Lakes region. The expansion brings more space for group fitness classes, new equipment, and upgraded amenities.
“It’s inspiring to see a local business not only grow, but also take such an active role in the community’s well-being,” said Jody Tyler, Director of Member Services for the chamber. “We’re thrilled to celebrate Finger Lakes Fit’s expansion and look forward to seeing their continued impact in Yates County and beyond.”
Finger Lakes Fit, which first opened in Watkins Glen, now operates two locations. Owner William Bowers credited community support as the driving force behind the gym’s growth.
“Our mission has always been to make fitness accessible, welcoming, and part of everyday life for everyone in the community,” Bowers said. “We’re excited to grow with Penn Yan and continue building a space where people feel empowered to reach their health goals.”
The facility offers 24/7 access with no additional monthly fees, aiming to help members stay active on their own schedule. Visitors and locals alike are welcome to use the space as a resource for health and connection.
