A packed Victor Town Board meeting saw residents and firefighters unite in defense of the Fishers Fire District, which faces possible dissolution due to projected financial instability.
The district’s board voted to explore dismantling the department, but union leaders and locals warned the move could delay emergency responses and endanger lives. With over 1,300 emergency calls answered annually, critics argue dissolving the department would reduce safety while increasing costs.
A public hearing is scheduled for July, and the fire district could be dissolved by the end of August.
