A Bath man with a history of driving offenses was arrested again last week after officers with the Village of Bath Police Department stopped his vehicle on Chestnut Street for traffic violations.
According to a police statement, 40-year-old Jordan M. Smith was arrested on June 18 at approximately 9:07 a.m. and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor. He was also charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree and cited for having distorted glass on his windshield.
Smith was taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment after refusing a chemical test. He was later released with an appearance ticket for Bath Village Court.
This arrest marks the latest in a string of infractions involving Smith. In the past three months alone, Bath Police have issued him seven traffic tickets for driving with a revoked license, cited him five times for drug-related offenses, and arrested him twice for impaired driving.
“These numbers do not include any arrests made by other agencies,” the department noted.
Police emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to drug-related crimes and impaired driving. “The Bath Police Department does not tolerate ANY crimes committed in the Village of Bath,” the statement read. Officers are committed to proactively addressing drug activity and unsafe operation of motor vehicles.
