The Seneca County Board of Supervisors will convene Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. to review a packed committee agenda that spans major decisions in public safety, workforce development, infrastructure, and community investment.
Among the items up for discussion is a proposed renewal contract between the Sheriff’s Department and the South Seneca Central School District to provide a Deputy Sheriff during the district’s extended school day program for violence prevention. The district will reimburse the county $60 per hour for the deputy’s services.
The Human Resources and Government Operations Committee will take up multiple personnel actions, including the appointment of seven new correction officers at pay steps above the entry rate based on prior experience. The committee is also set to consider creating two new part-time Special Patrol Officer roles and reclassifying a Senior Mental Health Clinical Therapist position to a Substance Abuse Counselor to better serve the jail population. A proposed new part-time Assistant Public Defender position, funded through the Hurrell-Harring Grant, will also be discussed.
Health and Human Services will review several items, including over $215,000 in school-based mental health and prevention contracts with local districts, the reappointment of Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board members, and submission of the county’s 2025–2026 Supervision and Treatment Services for Juveniles Program plan.
The Economic Development, Tourism and Housing Committee is expected to authorize grant funding for a Fourth of July fireworks display at Seneca Lake Resorts and downtown holiday decorations in Seneca Falls. The committee will also consider auctioning a surplus fuel tank following the completion of airport fuel farm upgrades.
The Ways and Means Committee will weigh amendments to the 2025 county budget, including over $940,000 in CHIPS-related funding and adjustments for domestic violence and Raise the Age programming.
Finally, the Water and Sewer Committee will address a resolution to amend contracts with Wendel to meet state grant requirements related to ongoing wastewater treatment plant upgrades.
Tuesday’s meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the county office building.
