Central New York was hit by powerful thunderstorms early Sunday, causing widespread flooding, wind damage, and power outages. Madison County extended travel advisories through Monday morning as crews work to clear blocked roads and restore utilities.
Storms brought 60-70 mph winds, large hail, lightning, and 4–5 inches of rain in some areas. Nearly 70,000 National Grid customers lost power. A Tornado Warning was issued around Westmoreland and Clinton, where damage was later confirmed. Flash Flood Warnings remain in effect.
Cooling centers and meal services were activated for displaced residents, and officials urge caution as cleanup and repair efforts continue.
