The New York Mets’ bats came alive in emphatic fashion Saturday night, snapping a seven-game losing streak with an 11-4 rout of the Phillies in Philadelphia.
After struggling offensively for over a week, New York exploded for 15 hits and seven home runs, including a rare back-to-back-to-back trio from Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, and Juan Soto in the third inning. It marked the Mets’ first time going deep three straight times since October 2022.
Nimmo and Soto each homered twice, while Soto delivered a massive night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Lindor broke out of an 0-for-19 slump with a solo homer and later added a two-run double off the right-field wall, driving in three runs total.
Pete Alonso joined the top four in the lineup in turning in a multi-hit game, with the group going 10-for-18 overall. Jared Young chipped in with a solo shot in the eighth, and Francisco Alvarez capped the slugfest with a homer of his own in the ninth.
Griffin Canning gave up three runs early but rebounded to complete five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) and earning his seventh win of the year. The bullpen trio of Huascar Brazobán, Ryne Stanek, and Chris Devenski combined for four scoreless innings to close things out.
The Mets (46-31) will look to carry the offensive momentum into Sunday night’s rubber match as they wrap up their road trip. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
