Rep. Langworthy receives death threat after Minn. lawmaker’s killing

U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy revealed he received a fresh death threat just days after the assassination of Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman. The attack, which also injured state Sen. John Hoffman, is part of what Langworthy calls a disturbing rise in political violence.

Authorities arrested suspect Vance Boelter, who had a list of about 70 potential targets, including politicians and civic leaders. Langworthy said all his district offices were threatened the same day and now has sheriff’s deputies stationed at his home.

With nearly 9,500 threats reported against Congress members last year, Langworthy urged Americans to reject violent rhetoric and resolve differences peacefully.
