New York State has released a newly redesigned map of its parks and historic sites, offering clearer navigation and highlighting affordable recreation options for residents and visitors.
Announced Monday by the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the map includes updated information on recently opened parks such as Sojourner Truth State Park in Ulster County and Shirley Chisholm State Park in Brooklyn, as well as the 750-mile Empire State Trail.
“The statewide map continues to be a popular resource for our visitors to plan their next trip,” said State Parks Commissioner Pro Tempore Randy Simons. “It was essential to update the map to provide visitors with the most current information.”
The updated design features a modern, minimalist layout that emphasizes park locations, historic sites, boat launches, campgrounds, and travel routes. It also points users to the 2025 New York Camping Guide, now available online and in print.
Printed copies of the map are free and can be found at visitor centers or requested by email at notes@parks.ny.gov or by calling 518-474-0456. Information is also accessible via the New York State Parks Explorer app for iOS and Android.
