A man was taken into custody early Sunday after a series of domestic confrontations escalated into physical and destructive behavior at a home in Canadice.
Richard C. Ashmead, 67, was arrested at 1:27 a.m. at his residence on South Old West Lake Road, according to Ontario County deputies. He faces charges of criminal mischief in the fourth degree and harassment in the second degree.
Authorities said the charges stem from an ongoing domestic incident that unfolded over two days. Investigators determined that Ashmead damaged the victim’s phone by placing it in a pot of coffee. The following night, he allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, during which he forcefully pulled off her pants as she kicked and pushed him away.
The victim reportedly locked herself in a car to avoid further contact, but Ashmead began spraying her with a garden hose through a window that was slightly open.
Deputies arrested Ashmead and transported him to the Ontario County Jail for processing. He is scheduled to appear in CAP court in the morning to answer the charges.
