Bath man arrested for donation box theft and drug-related charges

A 61-year-old Bath man was arrested earlier this week in connection with a theft from a local business and additional drug-related offenses.

According to the Village of Bath Police Department, officers arrested Warren S. Hoffman on June 10 at approximately 7:30 p.m. on an active warrant. The charges stem from a May 27 incident in which Hoffman allegedly stole a donation box from a business on Gansevoort Street. The box contained money contributed by customers for the Finger Lakes SPCA.

Police say Hoffman was quickly identified as a suspect, leading to a warrant request. Upon his arrest, officers discovered a digital scale and packaging materials commonly associated with narcotics distribution. Hoffman was additionally charged with two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree.

Hoffman faces one count of petit larceny and two misdemeanor drug charges. He was arraigned in Steuben County CAP Court and released.
