The event commemorates June 25, 1981, when six children in Medjugorje, a village in Bosnia-Hercegovina, first reported seeing the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to reports, Our Lady continues to appear to the visionaries, offering messages of hope and peace.

The messages emphasize prayer, fasting, monthly confession, frequent Mass attendance, loving others, and praying the Rosary daily for world peace.

More than 60 million people have visited Medjugorje, and the Roman Catholic Church has declared it a place of approved pilgrimage and devotion under the designation “Nulla Osta.”
