Carthage man charged after apartment assault

A man was arrested Thursday evening after a violent altercation at an apartment in the village of Carthage left another person injured, according to New York State Police.

Troopers arrested 28-year-old Timothy D. O’Connor of Carthage following an investigation into a reported fight at a Bridge Street apartment on May 29 at 7:19 p.m. Police say O’Connor struck the victim in the head several times during the confrontation.

Responding officers found the victim with a head injury and provided medical assistance until the Carthage Area Rescue Squad arrived. Investigators determined O’Connor knew the victim and had entered the apartment before a verbal dispute turned physical.

O’Connor fled the scene but was later located at his residence and taken into custody. He was charged with assault in the third degree and criminal trespass in the second degree, both Class A misdemeanors.

Police released O’Connor with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Champion Town Court at a later date.
