Cayuga Lake residents are invited to a unique “HABby Hour” event focused on harmful algal blooms, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Hosted by the Community Science Institute, the free public discussion takes place June 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Cayuga Shoreline in Covert.
Attendees can ask questions, explore trends in local water quality data, and learn how CSI volunteers help monitor the lake’s shoreline. The event aims to raise awareness and clear up misconceptions about algal blooms, a growing concern in the region.
Hors d’oeuvres will be provided, and proceeds from food and drink sales will benefit CSI. The nonprofit is based in Ithaca and works to protect water quality throughout the Finger Lakes.
