The University of Wisconsin-Platteville went into a temporary lockdown Monday after police responded to a report of a person with a weapon on campus. Authorities later confirmed there was no ongoing threat to students, faculty, or staff.
The university initially issued an alert around 1:15 p.m. CT warning of an “active police incident” and advising students to avoid the outdoor area near Ullsvik Hall and the nearby Center for the Arts.
Campus officials updated the alert shortly after 1:30 p.m., confirming the lockdown had been lifted and stating that police had deemed the situation under control. “There is no active threat to campus,” the statement read.
