Kanakadea Park to reopen after storm cleanup

Kanakadea Park in Steuben County will reopen to the public on May 15 following a temporary closure due to storm debris, according to the county’s Department of Public Works. The park was shut down after severe weather created unsafe conditions earlier this month.

DPW Commissioner Eric Rose credited county crews for their swift cleanup efforts, saying the area is once again safe for visitors. The park, located on County Route 66 near Hornell, had been closed since May 7 while debris was cleared.

Anyone with questions about the reopening can contact the Department of Public Works at 607-664-2460.
