A longtime dream has come true for “Save Our Sodus” (SOS), which will soon operate the newly restored Rose Lummis tour boat on Sodus Bay, according to the Times of Wayne County. A local benefactor purchased the 50-passenger vessel to help SOS offer eco-tours and sunset cruises starting this June.
SOS President Don Riling said the goal is to make Sodus Bay accessible to more families and children, especially those without boats. The nonprofit is partnering with educators to turn the boat into a floating classroom, offering hands-on science programs focused on environmental stewardship.
The first pilot program with Marion School District will study microplastics, with students publishing their findings nationally. Bookings and updates are available at saveoursodus.com.
